I do prefer Ross Switches but given these are close to half the cost I choose these. They are not wood like the Ross rather plastic base. I use these on a line where I do not run the old Lionel with shoes (milk, coal, cattle). Otherwise the shoes do get caught in the switches at times and might break the shoes. This does also happen at time with even the Ross brand.
