American Car and Foundry introduced the 5250 cubicfoot version of its “Centerflow” covered hopper inNovember 1964. These cars hauled everything fromplastics to grain starches and clays and were ownedby railroads private companies and car leasers alike.Some wore elaborate colorful paint schemes whileothers were simple gray affairs. Even those howeveroften became more colorful as they became attractivecanvases for taggers in the last two decades.With nearly 18000 similar cars built from 1964 to 1982.These cars were a common site around the countryfrom the 1960s to the 2010s. Several hundred are stillin service today often having served multiple owners.This release includes many colorful cars from multipleeras including some modern tagged and weatheredversions. Models feature round or trough-style roofhatches like the prototypes
